As I’m trying to figure out this running world, I’ve been soaking in a lot of running blogs. Today, one blogger, Heather wrote about her experience as a volunteer for a triathlon. Reading her story, I thought, “Hey! I should volunteer for a race!” Volunteering for a race is great for a few reasons:
1). It’s nice to help people.
2). Exposure to the race environment will be helpful. (If I watch others push themselves to the limit, I’ll be inspired to push myself too).
3). It might be really fun!
So, after reading Heather’s blog, I decided that I, too, must be a race volunteer. I immediately got online and looked for a suitable race, and submitted my volunteer application. And guess what? There are REWARDS for volunteering! So, now there’s another great reason to volunteer:
4). You get discounts on future races!
Now it looks like I might have 2 half marathons scheduled prior to the full, since I can’t turn down a good deal, and getting $30 off of race registration is a great deal!
so glad my post inspired you to be a volunteer! ❤
It did inspire me and I really am so, so excited about volunteering! I think it will be really fun! 🙂 And you are my first commenter on my new blog! That’s so nice!
HI BECKY! Which races are you going to volunteer at? This is actually on my new year’s resolutions list so if you find a good race to volunteer at let me know and I’ll come too!
